Target Audience |
|
PPASI is contracted by the Waikato District Health Board (WDHB)
to provide an out patient treatment service for people aged 18 years and over regarding alcohol and other drug problems.
We are also contracted by the following ministries:
Ministry of Health (MoH) to work with Pacific Peoples of all ages
regarding problem gambling health promotion and treatment.
Ministry of Social Development (MSD) to work with all ages in
providing Strategies for Kids and Information for Parents (SKIP)
positive parenting programmes;
Family and Community Services and MSD to work with all ages in providing a “Campaign for Action on Family Violence.”
Ministry of Justice (MoJ) to work with parents in providing “Parenting Through Separation” programmes for separated parents, and to raise parents’ awareness about their roles and responsibilities toward their children;
We are funded by Land and Transport New Zealand (LTNZ) to provide assessment and educational sessions for those who are indefinitely disqualified from driving in relation to the return of their driver’s
licence.

Description of programmes |
|
PPASI “Holistic Approach” stated in our Mission Statement means that we work with clients and their families in addressing all aspects of his/her life that may contribute to the cause of his/her addiction. We also include family members, church members and significant others in client’s treatment. PPASI is contracted to provide a specialist alcohol and drug treatment service, which includes:
One-to-one counselling;
A 10 week AOD programme, (day and/or night) depending on number
of participants;
Support group using Relapse Prevention Strategies;
After care group and social support services such as AA, NA, GA
and others.
We also provide community awareness sessions at different ethnic communities, youth, sports and church groups or as requested.
Some of our Counsellors are currently offering Anger Management and Violence Prevention sessions voluntarily when we can fit them into our normal working day while awaiting the approval of our Domestic Violence Act (DVA) programme proposal.

Desired outcome |
|
PPASI works on the premise that positive change will only be achieved through family and community changes. We educate people about the effects of alcohol, drugs, gambling and violence in their lives. We let them choose for themselves which path to take and we stand by to offer professional guidance and support.

PPASI works alongside many other Waikato AOD and Violence Prevention agencies and other Government Departments such as the Police, Psychological Services and Community Probation Services in the fight against alcohol and drug use/misuse, family violence and crime. |

9a.m. to 5p.m., but early and after hours sessions including Saturdays can be arranged through pre-booked appointments. |

Cost |
|
All our services are FREE, but we welcome any donations.
From time to time we deal with other issues/problems not listed above as part of our holistic approach to client’s treatment, and we charge $70 plus GST per hour.
A brief verbal report with the client’s consent is FREE.
A brief written report cost $70 plus GST.
A comprehensive assessment including a written report cost
$250
plus GST.
